The Boxes
The Artigiani del Re box was created to hold and enhance the precious cigar case. Crafted by true cabinetmakers, wood sculptors capable of transforming raw material into mosaics, inlays, and precious surfaces, each box becomes an integral part of the Artigiani del Re experience.
Decorations, engravings, and finishes make each creation a unique object, designed not only to contain but to safeguard over time.
PHASE 1
Cut
Wood cutting is a fundamental stage, capable of influencing the quality, resistance, and aesthetic yield of the material.
Artigiani del Re revives the attention to ancient artisanal processes, where wood was chosen and treated respecting the times, seasons, and natural characteristics of the material.
After cutting, the wood is left to dry and prepared to eliminate residual sap, improve stability, and protect it over time. The cutting method used by our artisans is called "quarter sawn," ideal for obtaining quality planks, with a cut perpendicular to the growth rings.
PHASE 2
Bonding
Gluing is one of the most delicate phases of processing. The glues must create a stable bond with the natural wood fibers, ensuring solidity, durability, and continuity between the surfaces.
Each step requires precision, speed, and control: the glue is applied carefully, when possible on both surfaces, to achieve a uniform and resistant bond.
The quality of the gluing must match the strength of the wood itself, so that the box structure remains solid and reliable over time.
PHASE 3
Filing and Measuring
Before filing, each piece is cleaned and cleared of any imperfections, knots, or early oxidation.
The wood is then carefully secured to allow for precise and symmetrical processing. At this stage, the artisan's hand controls form, balance, and proportions, transforming the raw material into a defined structure.
Alongside measuring the planks, Artigiani del Re pays great attention to controlling the wood's moisture content at every stage: from purchasing the sawn timber to the final varnishing.
PHASE 4
Equipment
Hand tools tell the authentic story of craftsmanship and the value of Made in Italy. Each tool accompanies the artisan's gesture, making visible the care, patience, and precision of the workmanship.
Artigiani del Re preserves the value of tradition but does not forgo technology. Innovation is used with a creative, simple, and artistic approach, serving the hand and the experience of the artisan.
It is from the encounter between technique, material, and sensitivity that a box is born, capable of holding not just a product, but a story.
