The Cigar Cases
Artigiani del Re cigar cases are born from a handcrafted process that combines leather, form, and precision.
Each step of the process is designed to shape the leather, enhance its material, and transform it into an elegant, durable, and timeless accessory.
PHASE 1
Boiling
The top-grain leather is soaked in very hot water, allowing the leather to expand and soften.
This step opens the pores of the leather and facilitates the subsequent absorption of color, preparing the material for the modeling and finishing phases.
PHASE 2
Modeling
The still-warm leather is molded onto a beech and okoume wood base, which is resistant to thermal expansion and contraction.
Next, small nails are attached, allowing the leather to balance with the shape of the wood. At the end of this phase, the leather rests for two days.
PHASE 3
Cold water rest
After two days, the leather is re-soaked in cold water, where it regains flexibility.
At this stage, the pores contract, allowing the color to subsequently appear more uniform.
PHASE 4
Joint Union
The shaped leather is closed at the seams with 80% ecological and natural glue.
The surface is then spread and shaped with a cuttlefish bone. The cigar case, still damp, rests for another 24 hours.
PHASE 5
Coloring
After resting in a cool environment, the leather, still neutral in color, is brushed with a powerful quick-drying dye.
The color is applied evenly from top to bottom, three times over five hours, allowing the leather to absorb it multiple times. After coloring, the cigar case rests for another 24 hours.
STAGE 6
Polishing
The still unpolished cigar case is coated with polishing wax and buffed under high-speed brushes.
This step gives the surface a brilliant finish, making the product perfectly shiny and refined.
PHASE 7
Punching and customization
The leather of the cigar case is hot-stamped with the classic Artigiani del Re logo.
During the branding process, a 925 silver foil is inserted at the time of burning, ensuring the logo retains its characteristic silver color. Subsequently, the "Genuine Leather" and "Handmade in Italy" inscriptions are applied.
Finally, upon customer request, additional branding with their initials can be applied to further personalize the product.
